The global aerospace and defense (A&D) industry is booming. Surging demand for flights in the aviation sector, significant increases in demand in the defense sector as a result of growing geopolitical tensions, and soaring demand from the space sector are all contributing to a very positive outlook for the A&D industry over the short and long term.
But this growth does not come without its challenges. The industry faces an enduring problem in finding and retaining the right employees across all work areas, including skilled labor, supply chain, and cutting-edge tech roles, a situation that could potentially impact performance and growth for companies operating in the sector.
This worrying situation puts into context the good news for thyssenkrupp Aerospace India, which has just officially been certified as a Great Place to Work. This globally-recognized certification acknowledges organizations that excel in providing a positive work environment for their employees.
Established in 2007, thyssenkrupp Aerospace India is one of the company’s youngest sites. The business has been very successful year-on-year with the results at least partly attributable to the site’s highly engaged staff.
Certification is awarded on the basis of employee feedback and external research-backed verification. According to a 2023 workplace study by Great Place to Work, 76% of job seekers prefer companies that are Great Place To Work Certified over those that are not. Job seekers are significantly more likely to choose a company when they know it has been recognized based on employee feedback as this serves as a powerful endorsement of a company culture that values its employees.
“Being a great place to work is a clear win-win. It’s good for the people who work here and it’s good for our business. And with high demand for people with experience of working in the A&D sector, it simply makes sense to do whatever we can to retain the good people we already have and to give the company an edge when it comes to recruiting new people” added Mr Hanumanthappa.
